Taboo (Paul May's boat) is due to depart Marina Rubicón, Lanzarote (28° 51.5’ N – 13° 49.0’ W) on approximately 18 November on passage for Jolly Harbour, Antigua in the West Indies (17° 04.6' N, 61° 53.7' W). Paul is Commodore of Lloyds Yacht Club and a member of Oxted Offshore. Tim Ashford (LLYC), Mike Baker (professional skipper for Lutine this season), Lawrence Nicholls (also a member of both OO and LLYC) and Geoffrey Sanderson (OO), make up the crew. The estimated passage distance is 2,800 nautical miles. This is slightly greater than the great circle route (by 80 miles) as Taboo will intially follow a south westerly course and run south of the great circle route to get into a position to maximise on the north equatorial current and the easterly trade winds. It is expected to take between 18 and 20 days.
