    Hi all

Well, we're hotting up for a good season already:  a merry bunch of club members are working away on Lutine to make sure that she's in great condition when she goes back in the water:  click here to see some of the work that's being undertaken.  We're also looking for some more volunteers:  if you're able to come along, then please see this page for contact details and dates.

So you think July is a long way away?  Maybe not - but did you know that the J-Class and Superyachts are sailing in the Solent this July?  Take a look at the dates here and see what the dates are - how about booking a charter to watch these huge, but elegant yachts as they race in our home waters?

Whilst it's easy to forget, please remember that your subs are due on 1st January.  If you're unsure of the amount or whether you have the correct account set up for your standing order, please let either myself or Nikki know and we will assist.

The March social will be held at the Little Ship Club:  RORC will be shut for a while.  The social date is 7th March.  We look forward to seeing you there.   On the note of socials, we've devised a short survey:  please click here to take the survey - we hope that it will provide us with useful information about what you want from the club in the future.

If you haven't received the mail, then there's a chance that some of the details that we are holding for you are out of date:  please let us have any new details that you may have - it's sometimes easier to let us have your personal e-mail addresses then should you move jobs, we don't have to track you down!

    Keep warm!

To many, this is the most important event in the Club's calendar.   Now in it's 68th year, the annual race and rally from a start line near Fort Gilkicker to Cherbourg, which for many years has been started and finished by our Club President, Brian Stewart.

To be eligible to win the Lutine Bell the skipper must be a member of Lloyd's Yacht Club but the yacht does not have to be owned by a member and can therefore be chartered or borrowed!

For those not wishing to Race, the event is also a rally so that everyone can meet up on the Saturday afternoon in Cherbourg for a drinks party on Lutine after which crews are free to enjoy themselves in Cherbourg.  Last years event proved to be very entertaining.  Click here for last year's write up.

The race starts on Friday evening, with the aim to enjoy the French sun on Saturday and returning on Sunday.  This year, 2012, the race starts on Friday 25th May and spaces are available.  If Lutine is full and you are interested in chartering a yacht for this event, then please let the Committee know.

The dates for this year's Lutine Lineslip regatta have been announced as the 29th and 30th of May.  For those of you who have not taken part maybe 2012 is the year you should give it a go.

The Lineslip is an excellent Corporate regatta for the Insurance and associated Industries.

In association with Britannia, the event starts and finishes at Port Hamble Marina and consists of two days of racing round the cans in the Solent with Squadron starts and finishes, and a dinner at the Royal Yacht Squadron in Cowes in the evening of the first day.

There are two classes racing: a matched fleet of Beneteau 40.7s, which can be chartered from Britannia Sailing and an open class with members entering their own yachts of all shapes and sizes.  Lutine also takes part so you can always book a berth on her as a way of getting in on the action.

The event is organised by Lloyd's Yacht Club in conjunction with Britannia Sailing and you can find out more details by clicking here.
