Lutine participates in a number of RORC and JOG
races throughout the season, including the biennial RORC Fastnet Race.
Details can be found in the programme. Lutine
Belle, the club's Keelboat, races throughout the year, entering all of
the major Solent Series such as RSYC Frostbite Series, Warsash Spring
Series, Round the Island Race, Cowes Week and the Hamble
Winter Series.
In addition to this, the club organises a number of specific events:
Lineslip Regatta
A two day corporate regatta, based in Cowes. Held in early June,
this event has fast become a fixture in the calendar, with a mixture of
One Design and handicap racing. Please click here for a write up
of the 2008 Event, and here to see the pictures.
Lutine Bell Race
To
some, this is the most important event in the Club's calendar.
An annual race and rally from a start line near Fort Gilkicker to
Cherbourg.
To be eligible to win the Lutine Bell the skipper must be a member of
Lloyd's Yacht Club but the boat does not have to be owned by a member
or can be chartered.
For those not wishing to Race, the event is also a rally so that
everyone can meet up on the Saturday afternoon in Cherbourg for a
drinks party on Lutine after which crews are free to enjoy themselves
in Cherbourg
Please check the programme for details of the event, from 2010 usually held in June.
South Coast Rally
This is an opportunity for members to meet up at a pre designated venue for a sociable dinner generally at one of the many yacht clubs in and around the Solent. Please see Lutine’s programme for the date of his rally or contact sailing@lloydsyachtclub.com for further details.
Finn Trophy
Another annual event,
this is a match between the Baltic Exchange Yacht Club, the Stock
Exchange Sailing Association and Lloyd's Yacht Club. Racing for
the magnificent Finn Trophy, the course is from the Island Sailing Club
line in Cowes, around the Nab Tower, and back to Cowes. There is
a dinner in one of the Cowes clubs in the evening.
The Lloyd's Yacht Club entry is being coordinated by Don Moreton. Please contact him if you wish to enter your yacht.
